Synchronizing Your Password

Whenever your static password changes, you may need to communicate the change to OneSpan Authentication Server to update the static password on the server as well. Updating your static password on OneSpan Authentication Server ensures that you can continue to use and manage your Mobile Authenticator after each change of the static password.

You may need to synchronize your static password:

  • if your static password has changed, and
  • if you have been instructed by your administrator to do so.

To synchronize your static password:

Response-Only

  1. From the User Self-Management Website menu, select Manage > New Static Password Synchronization.
  2. Enter your user name.
  3. Enter your new static password.
  4. Use your Mobile Authenticator to generate a one-time password.
  5. Enter the one-time password in the Digipass Response field.
  6. Click Update Password.
    If authentication is successful, your static password is updated on OneSpan Authentication Server.

Challenge/Response

  1. From the User Self-Management Website menu, select Manage > New Static Password Synchronization.
  2. Enter your user name.
  3. Depending on the instructions you received from the administrator, do one of the following:
    • Enter the new static password and the keyword in the New Password field.
    • Enter the keyword in the New Password field.
  4. Click Update Password.
  5. Enter the challenge displayed on-screen into your Mobile Authenticator.
  6. If required, enter your new password in the New Password field.
    This applies if in step 3, you have entered only the keyword.
  7. Enter the response from your Mobile Authenticator in the Digipass Response field.
  8. Click Update Password.
    If authentication is successful, your static password is updated on OneSpan Authentication Server.

Virtual Mobile Authenticator

  1. From the User Self-Management Website menu, select Manage > New Static Password Synchronization.
  2. Enter your user name.
  3. Depending on the instructions you received from the administrator, do one of the following:
    • Enter the new password and the keyword in the New Password field.
    • Enter the keyword in the New Password field.
  4. Click Update Password.
  5. If required, enter your new password in the New Password field.
    This applies if in step 3, you have entered only the keyword.
  6. Enter the one-time password sent to you via text message or e-mail in the Digipass Response field.
  7. Click Update Password.
    If authentication is successful, your static password is updated on OneSpan Authentication Server.
